Last year in 2016, Experience Aviation partnered with Wayman Aviation, a local flight school in South Florida, to work with local students to restore one of their single engine Cessna 152 aircrafts. The United Teachers of Dade Association also sponsored a number of their students to participate in the program through a full scholarship. The student participants also engaged in a ground school course as a supplemental curriculum around the actual build process. At the end of the program 4 students were awarded a scholarship to complete their first initial solo flight worth $5000.
Beginning last Fall, high school students of the Lancaster Independent School District were challenged to restore another Cessna, this time a Cessna 182. The aircraft, scheduled for restoration, was provided by Wings of Hope, a charity organization that conducts humanitarian relief missions via aircraft around the world. A partnership with Cross Country Aviation was formalized to conduct the maintenance restoration process with the Lancaster students.
